It is recommended that an acoustic piano be tuned at least once a year. If several years pass between tunings, there is a risk that the piano will go out of tune, in which case several tunings in quick succession may be required to bring it back into tune. How often the piano needs tuning depends on how much it is used, the environment in which it is kept and how stable the climate is. New pianos may need tuning more frequently during the first year, as the strings and wood are still settling.

The price for piano tuning is 2,000 SEK including VAT. Simple repairs are included. A travel allowance of 35 SEK per 10 km will be added. For an exact price estimate, please contact me for a free quote. 

Yes, as well as piano tuning, I also offer piano regulation, hammer repair, string replacement, voicing and other technical services for both upright and grand pianos.

For example, individual keys that stick are usually a simple repair that is included in the price when you book me for a piano tuning.

A piano's strings gradually lose tension over time, causing the pitch to drop. This is primarily affected by humidity, changes in temperature, seasonal variations and normal wear and tear. The wood in the piano also expands and contracts with changes in the climate, which affects the tuning. By having your piano tuned regularly, you can counteract this and maintain the pitch.

Yes, BUT it is recommended that you hire a qualified piano tuner, as piano tuning requires specialist knowledge, experience and the right tools. Incorrect tuning can lead to broken strings, damage to the action and tuning pins, and a poorer playing experience.

Above all, it takes a long time if you're not used to it. The first time I tuned a whole piano, it took me seven hours.

Do not place the piano near windows, doors, radiators or other sources of heat where the temperature and humidity fluctuate significantly. To maintain a more stable indoor climate, a humidifier or dehumidifier may be used, depending on the room's humidity level. 

IMPORTANT: Never place drinks or vases filled with water on the piano. If they are knocked over and the liquid seeps into the piano and its mechanism, the cost of restoration can be very high.

A weak or dead sound may be caused by broken or worn strings, incorrect tuning, heavily worn hammers or problems with the action. To identify the cause and rectify the problem, you can book me to carry out an inspection of your piano.

Use a soft, clean cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild soap solution to wipe down the piano's surfaces and keys. Avoid strong chemicals, furniture polish and abrasive cleaning products, as these can damage the varnish, keys and wooden parts. However, take care not to let any liquid get inside the piano, as this risks damaging the action and the structure.
If you wish to clean underneath the keys and inside the piano, I recommend that you contact me, as the action and keys can be damaged if they are removed and refitted incorrectly.

Signs that the piano needs a technical adjustment may include the keys feeling 'stiff' or sluggish, an uneven touch, certain notes not responding as they should, or difficulty controlling the dynamics.
In that case, please get in touch with me to book a service. I will then give the entire piano a thorough check-up, clean and lubricate the moving parts, and adjust the action for optimum playability.

No, at the moment I don't offer a piano removal service. However, I do hire out piano slings and a piano mat if you'd like to move your piano yourself.

No, unfortunately I don't have anywhere to store pianos that are being given away. But people do sometimes get in touch with me looking for a piano. You're therefore welcome to contact me to see if I know of anyone who needs a piano at the moment.
